He spent his time in occupational Japan before returning to his wife Marie Schanken Haynie, his young son Samuel Thomas Haynie III, (Tom) born June, 1942 and his daughter (ME) born February, 1944. Our Haynie family roots are traced to Northumberland County Virginia in 1624 beginning with Capt. John Haynie and his son Bridgar Haynie.
